apparently when i was driving back to va from my fabulous nyc weekend on the 5th i missed a violent
yet very contained (middle of charlottesville only - university/downtown/belmont areas) storm which
caused a lot of damage around wtju. that king tubby joint is for everyone who had to suffer through
it.
i'm not the first to lj about the tragic passing of michael dahlquist of silkworm, but i do have to say that i am deeply saddened by his loss. hard to believe it's been 8 years since i was fortunate enough to see his fine band open for pavement during a memorable stretch of shows in 1997, but the images of being blown away by michael's ferocity and control (not to mention the beard, hairy chest, and gloves) still haunt me to this day. dude could fucking play the drums, and he will be missed. |
